The Best Gas Station Ramen - Ozawa Ramen
You have to try this gas station ramen! Ozawa Ramen is probably one of the most underrated ramen shops in Thailand. The shops are always conveniently located at gas stations and various other locations (there’s one by the beach in Pattaya which is definitely worth checking out), and it’s budget friendly! When I want great, cheap bowl of Ramen, this is where I go.
What to eat at Ozawa Ramen
The miso ramen is delicious, but the star at Ozawa Ramen is the Tan Tan ramen. Slightly spicy and creamy because of the sesame (tastes like peanuts to me). The noodles are cooked to the perfection and the broth is filled of umami. I suggest to order some extra chashu if you’re a “big eater”, but the standard bowl is also filling.
Cute & simple
Ozawa Ramen is quite small with bar seats and just a few tables, but t be honest isn’t bar-side the best way to eat ramen anyways? As a franchise most of the restaurants pretty much looks the same with light wood and red interiors. (Still you have to check out the Pattaya branch as they have the most incredible view of the beach)
Menu and price
Ozawa Ramen is budget friendly with set menus from only 150 Baht, Shio Ramen at 95 Baht and Tsukemen Tan Tan at 230 Baht. There’s basically only ramen on the menu (hence the name) except for a few side dishes like karage chicken and gyoza. We usually end of paying around 500 Baht for two people, which is a great price for what you get.
How to get there?
There’s several branches of Ozawa Ramen both in and outside of Bangkok, with the most convenient location probably being the Phrakanong branch, next to the junction of Sukhumvit 71 and main Sukhumvit road. However, if you want the real experience of a gas station ramen, head to Bangchak Gas Station at Thannon Sena Nikhom 1 (not too far from Central Ladprao). The gas station also have a really great pet shop, along with a few other restaurants, Ozawa Ramen definitely being the best.
