You Have to Try This Carbonara! - Pastaioli
Are you a Carbonara lover? Then this is the place for you!
Pastaioli is a cute Italian restaurant at the newly opened EmSphere, serving up fresh pasta made by an Italian chef. The interior has a nice aesthetic with light wood furniture, yellow accents and really cool graphic design branding.
The Italian waiter who seated us was very nice and helped us to navigate the menu due to some of my dietary allergies. The menu is in an app accessible through QR code, and that’s also where you pay your check after finishing (don’t forget to press place order on both devices, if you make a shared order). We got the Carbonara with pork cheek and the Pici with Pesto Genovese.
The carbonara is creamy and salty, the pork cheeks crispy. No cream in this one that’s for sure! This dish definitely makes you crave for more.
The pesto is light and fresh. I would probably pair it with another type of pasta next time. The Pici pasta reminds me a bit of an Udon noodle texture, delicious, but maybe not the best choice for pesto. You can select which pasta and sauce you want, so the pairing was entirely my own fault. Still tasty, just not the best choice.
Menu & price at Pastaioli
Two pastas and one water (including tax and 10% tip) was 1098 Baht. Keep in mind that the food is reasonable priced, but there’s no regular drinks on the menu, only Acqua Panna, Sanpelligrino, beer and wine. The carbonara was so good that we will definitely go back for more!
How to get there?
Emsphere is the most recently opened shopping mall in Bangkok, part of the two giants Emquartier and Emporium. Easily accessible from Sukhumvit and Phrom Phong bts this shopping mall is bound to become one of the more popular ones. The ground floor hosts restaurants, cafes and the gourmet market (supermarket).
If you arrive by car, try to stay away from the Asok junction. I would suggest arriving from the Rama 4 side, take soi 24 up to Sukhumvit, then turn into EmSphere right after the Benchasiri park.
