The Shoyu Stand - Part 1

Once in awhile my curiosity takes me to what to many expats is the center of Bangkok, Thonglor. As a fan of 69 Rockmen, I wanted to try the new ramen stand by chef Shin. The Shoyu Stand is located in the second floor of J Avenue, right opposite to Maisen.

I tried the Hiyashi Niboshi Shoyu Noodles “Shiro” cold ramen with “all toppings”. Thin noodles (Hosomen) with a bonito fish flavored dashi, yuzu peels, red onions, menma, chashu, and a perfectly cooked egg. Well what can I say, it was the perfect dish for a humid-before-the-rain Bangkok.

I noticed someone who ordered the instagrammable Cappuccino Ramen. At first glance I thought it was just a funny gimmick, but as they started to slurp the noodles I couldn’t help to peek and the ramen looked very yummy, so there you have it. The title of this blog post is part 1, and there will definitely be a part 2 involving Cappuccino Ramen.

Two bowls of Cold Ramen with all toppings, one water and one matcha came out to around 900 Baht.

Living in Sukhumvit with close proximity to some of the best restaurants in Bangkok is definitely enticing, but would be extremely damaging to my wallet. So for now I’ll just be a visitor, but who knows what the future holds. After all, food is life.
