Spend a Saturday Morning at GalileOasis
An oasis in the middle of the city
Yes! It’s finally Friday and the weekend is almost here. Are you looking for a chill weekend hangout spot? Then I’ve got the perfect place for you.
GalileOasis is just what is sounds like, an OASIS in the middle of busy Bangkok. A short walk from Ratchatewi bts station, a block of old Thai shophouses have been converted into a lush creative space and hotel, with great food and coffee for both tourists and locals. You can literally spend all day here.
Cilantro
Let’s start with a long brunch at Cilantro. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, but with the recent heatwave I strongly suggest to grab a table indoors. Your fur-baby can join indoors, which is a great plus! This restaurant serves up delicious international food with pastas, pizzas and large breakfast plates. We tried the Spaghetti Carbonara (with cream) and the Scrambled eggs on sourdough with kale, procuito ham, candied walnuts and honey. The open-faced sandwich is to die for, and you definiltely have to try it.
Piccolo Vicolo
Next let’s have a coffee and something sweet at Piccolo Vicolo. This coffee shop makes some of the best coffee in Ratchatewi area. There’s a wide variety of both drinks and sweets to choose from. I recommend the lemon poppyseed cake with a iced americano, or if you are a bit adventurous try the coconut water americano (not my favorite).
During the weekends this cafe gets quite busy with both tourists and locals, but if you come here during the weekdays it’s a great place to bring your laptop to get some work done. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area, it’s under roof so it’s still a great place to sit during the rainy months.
Pet friendly indoors and outdoors
GalileOasis is basically all dog friendly with some restaurants and cafes welcoming pets both indoors and outdoors. A cart or a bag might be the best option to bring your dog inside for a meal, and always keep your dog on a leash to not scare the street cats.
How to get there?
Take a taxi, motorbike or walk, as the parking lot is usually filled to the brim. Nearest bts is Ratchatewi. It’s a 10-15 minute walk, or a 5 minute motorbike ride. The last 50 meters is a tiny soi that can only fit motorbikes, so please be aware in case of bad weather.
